Johnson & Johnson Destroyed Valuable Transvaginal Mesh Data

The judge presiding over lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson ruled that the company improperly destroyed documentation related to faulty transvaginal mesh devices.

The numerous lawsuits against J&J, consolidated in a Charleston, West Virginia courtroom, allege that the company's transvaginal mesh devices were faulty and caused serious internal injuries to many women. Judge Cheryl Eifert said that the company's Ethicon unit had erred in destroying or losing documents related to the development of the transvaginal mesh devices.

The defective product attorneys at The Cochran Firm have seen incidents like this before. Documentation of the sort at issue in this case is crucial for the proper operation of the legal system, and large companies have an unfortunate habit of misplacing this information.

Defective medical devices put innocent people in danger. The transvaginal mesh implants at issue in these cases have reportedly caused significant pain and suffering to numerous women. They allege that Johnson & Johnson knew about the danger of these devices and did not take adequate steps in response.
