Aviation Accident's Details Still Pending

According to the airline, Air France, the jet with 228 people that may have crashed into the Atlantic Ocean had reported electrical storms right before it lost contact with air traffic controllers. The flight was en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris (an 11-hour flight), and it was early in the flight that the pilots of the Airbus A330-200 (one of the newest models and highly state-of-the-art) sent a message to controllers that it experienced an electric current failure while hitting turbulence.

Two Brazilian air force squadrons have been launched to look for the plane near the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha in the ocean; the archipelago is about 225 miles from the coastline. Hijacking has been ruled out.

More details will be provided as they become available.
